SOMERSET —
State police are searching for a man who allegedly raped a woman in Somerset Township.
Police said an unknown man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 230 to 240 pounds, reportedly grabbed the victim from behind and assaulted her just after 11 p.m. Saturday.
The assault happened at a residence along Kent Lane, police said. The suspect has darker hair, some facial hair and hairy hands and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, police said.

Keystone Alliance to show documentary
The Keystone Alliance/ Gaylife Newsletter will sponsor a showing of “Out in the Silence” at the Cambria County Library on National Coming Out Day, which is today.
The free showing of the film will be at 6 p.m. at the library, 248 Main St. in downtown Johnstown.
Light refreshments will be served.
The documentary chronicles the story of a small American town confronting a storm of controversy created by a same-sex wedding announcement in the local newspaper. The movie aims to get viewers to rethink their values and close divisions in the communities.

Teen driving clinic slated for this week
The New Driver Car Control Clinic will be held Thursday through Saturday at Memorial Medical Center and Lockheed Martin in Johnstown.
Sponsored by Conemaugh Health System, the clinic teaches hands-on, behind-the-wheel accident avoidance and defensive driving. The classes are meant for parents and teens.
The cost is $179, with $50 to be refunded.

Celebration highlights afterschool programs
Greater Johnstown School District’s East Side Elementary School at 220 Messenger St. in Hornerstown will be among more than 7,500 sites across the country that will be participating in the 11th annual Lights On celebration of afterschool programs this autumn.
The East Side program will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the school. Parking is available at the rear entrance.
The Lights On celebration highlights the importance of afterschool programs. The programs support working families by ensuring that children are safe and productive when the school day ends.
Parents, employers, school officials and others are invited.
