13 vying to be UPJ’s homecoming queen

— Thirteen Pitt-Johnstown students have been selected as 2010 homecoming queen candidates.

They are:

• Erika Bickerton of Pittsburgh. She is sponsored by the Programming Board and is a mechanical engineering technology major.

• Kristen Gormley of Altoona. She is sponsored by the cheerleaders and is an elementary education major.

• Laura Johnson of Hummelstown, Dauphin County. She is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and is a biology major.

• Taylor Daphne Morsillo of Pittsburgh. She is sponsored by the Student Government and is a political science major.

• Tess Olshansky of Leechburg, Armstrong County. She is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha and is an elementary education major.

• Alaina Pintar of Venetia, Washington County. She is sponsored by Pi Lambda Theta and is an elementary education major.

• Erin Rebling of Hanover, York County. She is sponsored by the UPJ Dance Ensemble and is a psychology major.

• Dana Shirley of Monroeville. She is sponsored by the UPJ Blue & Gold Society and is an elementary education major.

• Catrina Shockey of Johnstown. She is sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a civil engineering major.

• Jessica Skapura of Latrobe. She is sponsored by Phi Sigma Sigma and is a secondary education/social studies major.

• Brittany Snyder of Houston, Washington County. She is sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta and is an elementary education major.

• Darianna Terry of Chantilly, Va. She is sponsored by Kappa Zeta and is a communications major.

• Jenalyn Young of Johnstown. She is sponsored by the Education Club and is an elementary education major.

The coronation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at University Square.

The homecoming parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday behind Richland Cinemas and move on to Theatre Drive then to Schoolhouse Road. The parade will enter campus via Picking Drive and proceed to Kunks Drive past the reviewing stand.

Other events held in conjunction with homecoming weekend include:

Friday: UPJ Accounting Advisory Board will hold its seventh annual job fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Cambria Room of the Student Union; a carnival will be held from 1 to

10 p.m. behind Biddle Hall with fireworks to begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday: The carnival will continue from 1 to 10 p.m.; Mountain Cat Wing Fest,

12:30 p.m. at the Campus Mall; alumna Jessica Bellas will be holding a reading of her memoir, “Maotai, Mooncakes & Monks: Misadventures in Hong Kong and China” at 2 p.m. in the Mountain Cat Club, a book signing will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the bookstore; the Discovery Dome will be in the lobby of Blackington Hall from 1 to

4 p.m. and offers a 3-D tour of Earth; Papa Do Run Run concert, featuring classic rock hits from the ’60s and ’70s, will be held at 8 p.m. in the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center.
