Richland Township police continue to investigate Sunday night’s shooting of a Pitt-Johnstown student in his off-campus residence at the Bloomfield Apartments on Theatre Drive.
The injured student, David Consiglio, 22, of the Hollidaysburg area, was admitted to Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He remained in fair condition Tuesday, a hospital spokesman said.
Detective Kevin Lehman said police are looking for two black men who barged into the apartment and demanded money.
The robbers were described as younger than 30, but a further description was not released by the police.
Consiglio was shot during a scuffle with one of the intruders, Lehman said.
The detective told The Associated Press the robbers were after money but wouldn’t say why the men might have expected to find it in the apartment. Police don’t believe anything was taken before Consiglio was shot.
Consiglio is related to District Attorney Richard Consiglio in neighboring Blair County.
Lehman said the victim isn’t the prosecutor’s son, but could not pinpoint the relationship otherwise, and Consiglio didn’t immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.
Sex charges
Johnstown police are searching for a Somerset County man in connection with sex crimes involving a girl, authorities said.
An arrest warrant was issued for George Henry Irvin Jr., 39, of the Windber and Ogle Township area.
Irvin faces multiple sex charges stemming from an incident that occurred over a period of years. He is known to frequent Dale Borough.
High-speed chase
WINDBER – A Bedford County man riding an ATV was jailed after allegedly leading Paint Township police on a high-speed chase before ditching the vehicle in a creek and hiding inside a car dealership.
William Joseph Loomis Jr., 27, of Alum Bank, drove away from a traffic stop Monday morning when an officer attempted to stop him on Route 56, according to a criminal complaint filed by police.
Loomis drove onto Route 160 and nearly struck a patrol car, police said. The ATV operator ended up on Statler Road before riding into a field, where police found the vehicle in a stream.
Police later found Loomis at Cover’s Chevrolet in Windber. He bolted from the showroom and was taken into custody.
Loomis was charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.
He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they found two drug needles and a spoon.
Loomis was arraigned by District Judge Susan Mankamyer of Boswell and sent to the Somerset County Jail on $7,500 bond.
Forgery, theft
WINDBER – A Central City woman faces 114 forgery and theft counts after she allegedly forged checks from two bank accounts.
Elizabeth Dale Lenart, 33, of the 200 block of Leppert Road, was charged Monday with 38 counts of forgery and 76 counts of counts of theft.
Lenart is accused of forging checks from a woman’s accounts at PNC and First Commonwealth banks. The checks range in value from $15 to $380.
Lenart will answer the charges at a later date.
Santa theft
INDIANA – Borough police are trying to find out who stole a 4-foot-tall light-up Santa Claus from a home on Oak Street on Monday.
Police described the stolen St. Nick as a plastic and fiberglass blow-up, clad in a red-and-white suit and black boots.
