BERLIN —
A Berlin man was jailed Monday after authorities said he left his 6-year old son unsupervised around a swimming pool, threatened to kill a dog and burn down a house, authorities said.
In a court document, state police at the Somerset barracks said Christopher Ryan Goss, 27, told the boy he would “chop the dog’s head off with a knife” and burn down the house.
The boy became so alarmed by his father’s actions that he called his mother. She arrived to find the boy unsupervised outside the home on Mason Dixon Highway, troopers said.
When troopers arrived Goss was “extremely intoxicated and became disorderly and vulgar while in public.”
Goss, of the 200 block of North Street, was charged with endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned by on-call District Judge Kenneth Johnson of Somerset and sent to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post $10,000 bond.
