LORETTO – St. Francis University will host a summer open house for prospective students and their families on July 13. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. inside the JFK Student Center.
The day will begin with an academic and activities fair where prospective students will be able to speak to faculty representatives about more than 30 programs, including majors in business, sciences, health sciences, education and the humanities. The fair also will feature information on new programs, including the public health major, the gaming/new media production concentration recently added to the computer science degree, and the newly created American sign language minor.
Participants also can find out about extracurricular activities, athletics and a range of study-abroad programs, including study at the university’s campus in Ambialet, France.
Financial aid representatives will be present to answer questions and talk about scholarships and grants.

Computers donated to Bishop Carroll
EBENSBURG – Bishop Carroll Catholic High School is being fitted with 70 new computers this summer thanks to a donation by the Class of 1975.
Five classroom SmartBoards and new computers for faculty members are also scheduled to be installed.
Roy Holtz, chairman of the school’s board of trustees, challenged his fellow ’75 alumni to contribute the $35,000 investment needed for the upgrades.
“Right now, we are enjoying tremendous momentum in our alumni giving program, and the time seemed right to undertake this project,” Holtz said. “We are thrilled that Bishop Carroll students and faculty will be welcomed in the fall with new computers and new classroom technology.”
Bishop Carroll Principal Lorie Ratchford said, “Up-to-date computer technology is a critical component of today’s academic curriculum. In order to be prepared for college and the work force, today’s students and their teachers need access to quality computers and new technology. We are grateful to the Class of ’75 for their support.”
