Penn State Cooperative Extension will host the first Laurel Highlands Farm & Home Expo from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Friday on the Pitt-Johnstown campus in Richland Township.
The expo will feature more than 30 educational sessions on an array of topics of interest to farmers, potato growers, gardeners, homeowners and horse enthusiasts.
Sessions will be held on animal welfare, weed identification and management in pastures, late blight management in potatoes and tomatoes, healthy eating, renewable energy opportunities, using high tunnels to extend the harvest season, common poisonous plants found in Pennsylvania pastures, financial fitness and more.
The registration fee is $20.

VFW auxiliary president to visit local post
ASHVILLE – Betty Jean Biedrzycki, department
president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will make an official visit to District 26 on March 14 at Ashville VFW Post 4315.
District 26 is made up of Armstrong, Indiana and Cambria counties.
Biedrzycki has served in all the offices of her auxiliary, including two terms as president and many terms as treasurer and secretary. She currently is a trustee.
She is a member of the auxiliary under the eligibility of her husband, John A. Biedrzycki Jr., an Army veteran and past state commander of the Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars.
