SEVEN SPRINGS — Two Westmoreland County men were jailed after allegedly stealing $1,400 in tools from a storage facility in Middlecreek Township, where authorities said they planned to sell them for drug money.
Seven Springs police said in court documents that William Nathan Lint, 25, of Scottdale, and Earl Lee Lint Jr., 28, of Alverton made off with a gas-powered air compressor and a paint gun from a Rock Garden Storage facility late Thursday.
The building is owned by Seven Springs Resort.
The pair used a hammer to break a padlock on the storage building being used to store materials and tools for Dynamic Builders Inc.
The pair – believed to be brothers – fled into the woods when they saw car headlights, police said. Both were wet and snow covered when they were apprehended, police said.
Each was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and criminal trespass.
They were arraigned Friday by on-call District Judge Joseph Cannoni of Windber and sent to the Somerset County Jail after each failed to post $10,000.
