MUNDYS CORNER — No injuries were reported Monday when a school bus carrying Central Cambria School District pupils collided with an SUV in Jackson Township.
The bus, owned by First Student Inc. of Ebensburg, had just started its rounds.
Four pupils of what is usually a passenger load of 23 were aboard. The children attend Jackson Elementary School in Mundys Corner.
“It was not a serious accident by any means,” said district Superintendent Vincent DiLeo.
All parents were notified of the crash and the youngsters were checked by paramedics, DiLeo said. The pupils then were moved to another bus.
A charge of failure to yield at a stop sign is pending against the bus driver, Patricia Evanicsko, 43, of the
100 block of Finley Road, Ebensburg, said Jackson Township police Chief Robert Fatula.
He said Evanicsko pulled from a stop sign on Kepple Road onto Benshoff Hill Road and into the path of a northbound SUV driven by Richard Kosakowski, 33, of the 100 block of Waterfall Drive, Johnstown.
The impact was to the front of both vehicles. The 2000 Ford SUV had to be towed from the scene, Fatula said.
