JOHNSTOWN — A snowstorm struck Johnstown around 3 p.m. Tuesday with forecasters predicting 4 to 12 inches by late tonight.
Between 2 and 5 inches of snow is expected by daybreak today, said AccuWeather.com. Another 2 to 5 inches should fall during the day today with windy conditions causing drifting conditions, the Web site said.
Another inch or so of snow is expected tonight.
Windy conditions will continue through the night.
It also will be cold.
AccuWeather.com said today’s high should be 26 degrees but with the wind, it will feel like it is 12 degrees.
The low temperature tonight should be 14 but it will feel as though it is 6 degrees below zero, the Web site said.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike is alerting motorists that because of the storm, a winter-weather ban could be issued for some or all of the toll road if conditions warrant.
The ban would mean that certain passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers would be prohibited from driving on the turnpike.
The vehicles that could be banned are Class-9 vehicles, large combination vehicles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, tractors hauling empty trailers and trailers pulled by passenger vehicles.
