ST. MICHAEL —
A Sidman motorist was taken to the hospital this morning after she fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into a utility pole in Adams Township, authorities said.
Township police said Ricki L. Hendrickson, 19, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire east on Locust Street at 10 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the other lane before leaving the roadway and striking the pole.
Firefighters from St. Michael extricated Henderickson from the vehicle. East Hills Ambulance transported her to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Her condition was not available.
Police said Henderickson had worked the midnight to 8 a.m. shift and was heading home at the time of the crash.
Police did not say were she was employed. Township police are continuing the crash investigation.
