Johnstown police probe murder-suicide

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown police are investigating a reported murder-suicide on Saturday at Oakhurst Homes in the city’s West End.

Demont Morris, 40, allegedly shot his estranged wife, Royale Lee Morris, 38, before turning the gun on himself inside an apartment in building 29, Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski said.

The woman lived at the apartment with the couple’s two children. The children were home at the time and are now staying with relatives, Kwiatkowski said.

The couple was pronounced dead at at 12:42 p.m., he said.
