Worker injured at wind turbine site
WELLERSBURG – A contractor at a Somerset County wind farm was injured when a large piece of steel fell on him.
The Daily American of Somerset reported that a stack of steel pieces fell over and hit the man.
Wellersburg Assistant Fire Chief Chase Troutman said the unidentified man suffered trauma to the face and chest and was taken to a hospital in Cumberland, Md. Further details weren’t immediately available.
Richland district hires administrator
Richland School District has a new business manager.
District officials voted unanimously Monday to hire Corina L. Long, a senior manager at Barnes, Saly & Co. who spent 12 years with the company auditing school district and other local government spending, district Superintendent Thomas Fleming said.
Long, of Summerhill, has an accounting degree from St. Francis University, where she also received her master’s in business administration.
She replaces Don Irwin Jr., who left earlier this fall to work for Ligonier Valley School District.
Long received a five-year contract with a starting salary of $72,000.
She is expected to start work Dec. 10, Fleming said.
Disabilities conference, job fair scheduled
PA CareerLink of Cambria County and Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley Inc. will host an employer conference on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at Pitt-Johnstown’s Living/Learning Center.
A job fair for individuals with disabilities will follow the conference from 1 to 3 p.m.
There is no fee to attend and a complimentary buffet lunch will be provided.
Exhibitor tables for the job fair are available at no cost, and the fair is open to the public.
Mark E. Smith, author, website designer and mobility manager for Pride Products Corp., will be the keynote speaker.
Registration is required by Monday.
