JOHNSTOWN —
An East Taylor Township man was arraigned Thursday on charges that he raped a woman, authorities said.
Township police charged Joseph George Pelles, 48, of the 600 block of Penn Avenue, with rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
In a criminal complaint, police said Pelles assaulted the woman at her residence on Monday.
Before leaving the residence, Pelles reportedly said: “Nobody has to know about this.”
The woman was treated at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. The Tribune-Democrat does not release the names of sexual assault victims.
Pelles was arraigned by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco and released on $75,000 unsecured bond.
Pelles reportedly told police the sex was consensual.
