A Somerset County woman was jailed Wednesday on charges that she intimidated a witness in an upcoming hearing involving guns and drugs, authorities said.
Berlin police charged Sharell Lynn Brown, 21, of Listie, with disorderly conduct, harassment and intimidation of a witness or victim.
Police alleged in a criminal complaint that Brown had telephoned David Nightingale “begging him” not to show up for a Dec. 13 preliminary hearing.
In that case, Brown is accused of stealing a .44 Magnum Ruger, a .22 caliber handgun and $100 in coins from Nightingale’s Berlin home while she was cleaning there on Sept. 11.
She sold the guns in Pittsburgh for 10 bricks of heroin, police said.
Brown was charged in that case with theft, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Police said Brown called Nightingale multiple times “crying and pleading” with him to not show up for the hearing or she would go to jail and “ruin her life.”
During one of the telephone calls, Brown reminded Nightingale that the case involved stolen hand guns, which he viewed a threat, police said.
Brown was arraigned in the intimidation case by on-call District Judge Kenneth Johnson of Somerset and sent to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post $15,000 bond.
