SIDMAN —
Forest Hills junior Spencer Ivock is “redding out” the schools today for his senior project.
While that may sound like western Pennsylvania-ese for a massive cleaning, Spencer’s project is part of National Wear Red Day, spearheaded by the American Heart Association.
The nationwide awareness campaign, also called Go Red for Women, is held the first Friday of each February to help launch American Heart Month and call attention to the risk of heart disease, especially for women.
“I chose this because it is a great cause,” Spencer said at the kitchen table in his family’s Washington Avenue home.
“If I can bring awareness to just one person, it’s worth it.”
Students in all three Forest Hills School District buildings will be decked out in red T-shirts today to promote education about the No. 1 killer of women and men in the United States.
