Coupon clippers can help cut dropout rate in area schools

— By using coupons, people can help to keep students in school.

Communities in Schools of Pennsylvania, an affiliate of the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization, on Tuesday launched GIVE Education, a campaign developed to increase awareness of the student dropout crisis in the state and across the country.

Beginning Sunday, the GIVE Education brandSAVER with coupons for discounts on Procter & Gamble products will be distributed in newspapers.

For each coupon redeemed, P&G will donate 2 cents to Communities in Schools.

“The national organization will receive the money and it will then trickle down to the local affiliates,” said Carly Dean, CISPA’s director of development and communications.

The program will benefit CISPA’s six state affiliates, including Communities in Schools of the Laurel Highlands, which serves the Penn Cambria, Central Cambria, Cambria Heights and Blacklick Valley school districts in northern Cambria County.
