NEW – 15 Pa. airports to split $1.9M; Somerset getting $330,000 for hangar

HARRISBURG — Fifteen airports across Pennsylvania are sharing in $1.9 million in mostly state money to upgrade equipment and facilities.

Gov. Ed Rendell says $1.7 million in state money comes from the state’s jet fuel tax and takes advantage of more than $700,000 in matching funds. An additional $270,000 is coming from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airports will use the money for purposes ranging from runway repaving to fueling facilities.

The largest payment is going to the Somerset County Airport, which is getting $330,000 to construct a new T-hangar.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport will receive $37,500 for pavement maintenance equipment and supplies.
