A free community dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Windber Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave.
The meal will be prepared by Rummel Church of the Brethren members, and the menu will include gravy stuffing chicken bake, applesauce, assorted desserts and coffee or punch.
Windber Area Community Kitchen, a nonprofit, nondenominational community organization, provides healthy, home-cooked meals.
College plans open house
EBENSBURG – An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 7 at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College’s Ebensburg center at Hills Plaza Drive, off Route 22.
Those who attend will learn about the college’s degree programs, transfer options and opportunities for continuing education and will be able to speak with representatives regarding their educational goals.

Basket party to aid Camp PARC
TIRE HILL – The Camp PARC Basket Party will be held March 10 at the John Bracken Hall at the Conemaugh Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Doors will open at 1 p.m., and drawings will begin at 2.
More than 100 themed baskets will be filled with items from individuals, area businesses and Camp PARC, a privately funded, nonprofit organization that creates recreational and social opportunities for children and adults with mental and developmental disabilities.
Participants can purchase chances on high-end baskets, a money tree, grocery baskets and a mystery box.
Tickets are $7, which includes 25 chances on general themed baskets, a door prize raffle ticket and refreshments. Each additional set of 25 tickets is $5.
Ticket holders can attend a preview night from 6 to 8 p.m. March 9, when they can place chance tickets early by paying $3.
Cresson BPW offers student grant
CRESSON – For the 25th year, the Cresson Business and Professional Women’s organization will award a $500 grant to a deserving student.
Applicants must be 21 or older and have completed one-fourth of a program at a four-year college, two-year college or certificate program, school of nursing or practical nursing program. A certified grade transcript must be provided as proof of completion.
Each submission must be accompanied by a 250-word career goal statement.
Scholarship applications can be obtained at the financial aid and continuing education offices of a number of vocational-technical schools, nursing programs and colleges in the area.
Completed applications and all accompanying information must be postmarked by March 15.
The recipient will be notified in April.
