WASHINGTON, D.C. —
America’s 911 Foundation has opened registration for the 10th annual commemorative 911 Motorcycle Ride that will be held Aug. 20-21.
Escorted by police, the ride makes stops at each of the
Sept. 11, 2001, attack sites – Shanksville, New York and Arlington, Va. – to honor the heroes and victims of that day.
The ride also raises money for the foundation’s scholarship for children of active first responders in emergency medical service, fire and police departments across the country.
During the past six years, the foundation has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships and presented departments with more than $200,000 in equipment and donations.
The ride will depart Aug. 20 from the main starting location in Somerset.
Riders can join the event at various points throughout the route either day.
The cost is $100 for each driver, plus $25 per passenger.
Those interested in participating can sign up at www.americas911foundation.org.
Participants also can register on site the day of the event for an additional $25.
