Tim Houser uses two words – “challenging opportunity” – to describe his goal in this year’s elections.
That may be an understatement, as the Ebensburg Republican hopes to unseat long-serving Democratic state Sen. John Wozniak of Westmont. But Houser believes his experience as a business owner and a community activist could be enough to win the sprawling 35th district.
“I respect what (Wozniak) has done,” Houser said. “But the bottom line is, he’s a career politician.”
There will be nothing easy for Houser, and that includes trying to figure out the shape of the district he’s campaigning in.
A dispute over the recently redrawn state legislative lines is ongoing, and it is unclear which boundaries will be in effect for the April 24 primary.
Houser said he has been cautious to “concentrate on Cambria County” when collecting signatures on his nomination petitions. Cambria is wholly in the 35th district whether the new or old boundaries are used.
