JOHNSTOWN — Zurilla Financial Services of 1739 Lyter Drive, Lower Yoder Township, remains open as management seeks a new location for the business.
Owner Thomas Zurilla died in February and the building was sold to Somerset Trust Co., which plans to open a bank branch there.
In the meantime, Ann Zurilla – who has taken over ownership and operation of the business – said Zurilla Financial Services will continue to operate and is looking for another office location.
“We will be in this building through the current tax season,” she said. “We are very busy.”
Ann Zurilla said she expects the business to remain at the Lyter Drive office until June, and then relocate somewhere nearby.
A story and photo caption on Page A1 in Thursday’s edition incorrectly indicated that Zurilla Financial was no longer operating at the Lyter Drive location.
Roberta Lohr, a spokeswoman with Somerset Trust, agreed with Zurilla’s timetable.
Lohr said Somerset Trust hopes to have its new branch in that Westwood Plaza-area office open by mid-summer, pending approval from the state Department of Banking and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. – which regulate the industry.
“It’s been a pleasure working with (Zurilla Financial Services),” Lohr said. “We’re really pleased that we can work with them through this process.”
Zurilla Financial Services offers tax preparation, financial planning and accounting services.
CPA Jerry R. Baxter is on staff with Zurilla.
“We are uncertain where we will be housed,” Zurilla said. “But the business is still viable.”
Zurilla said the sale and transition between the two companies has been smooth.
“I’m happy that Somerset Trust is doing this,” she said.
