Farm Service Agency elections have been held in Cambria and Somerset counties.
Dennis Hines of Loretto was elected committee member from Cambria County Local Administrative Area 2. Patrick B. Stolz of Nicktown was elected first alternate and Sherry Pellmann of Ashville, second alternate.
Wayne Petenbrink of Garrett was elected committee member from Somerset County Local Administrative Area 1. Margaret Ream of Markleton was elected alternate.
Cambria’s Area 2 takes in Allegheny, Barr, Blacklick, Cambria, Gallitzin and Munster townships.
Somerset’s Area 1 includes the townships of Addison, Allegheny, Elk Lick, Fairhope, Greenville, Larimer, Lower Turkeyfoot, Northampton, Southampton, Summit and Upper Turkeyfoot.
Committee members were elected for three-year terms each beginning Jan. 1.
Among duties of county committee people are:
• Informing farmers of the purposes and provisions of agency programs.
• Keeping the State FSA Committee informed of conditions in their administrative areas.
• Recommending any changes they feel are needed in farm programs.
• Participating in county meetings.
• Carrying out other duties as assigned by the state committee.
