As of March 23, 2008, when the American death toll in the Iraq war reached 4,000, 187 soldiers from Pennsylvania or with strong ties to the state had been killed or died in support of combat operations.
In most cases, the causes of death listed here were provided at the time the deaths were announced. Hometowns and local connections were in some cases provided by family. Unless otherwise noted, the servicemen or women served in the Army.
