NEW – Fishertown boy injured in bike accident

FISHERTOWN — An 11-year-old boy was injured when his bicycle traveled into the path of a vehicle, state police reported this morning.

The unidentified youth was riding his Huffy Raider eastbound on Rt. 56 in East St. Clair Township when he was struck by a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Catherine Joann Walters of Bedford.

Police said Walters also was traveling east when the youth began doing wheelies on his bike and traveled into the path of the car.

The youth, who received minor injuries, struck the side of Walters vehicle and fell from the bike.

The accident occurred at 7:50 p.m. Sunday.
