Police seek witnesses in Westmoreland SUV crash

GREENSBURG — State police are looking for witnesses to explain why a sport-utility vehicle plunged 60 feet off a highway overpass in Westmoreland County.

Forty-one-year-old Jeannine Palandro, of Murrysville, was killed in the crash about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. They say she was thrown from the vehicle as it plunged from the Route 66 toll road in Hempfield Township.

Her husband, 42-year-old Mark Palandro, is in critical condition in a Pittsburgh hospital. The former police officer was driving the vehicle.

The couple’s 11-year-old son Nicholas is in critical condition at UPMC Children’s Hospital, while his brother is in fair condition at the same hospital.

Police are trying to determine how Mark Palandro lost control of the vehicle.
