Johnstown Salvation Army at 576 Vine St. downtown will begin taking applications for back-to-school and seasonal assistance on Monday.
Applications will be accepted through Aug. 29 weekdays between 10 a.m. and noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
Applicants must bring proof of all income, proof of all bills, proof of residency and a Social Security card for every family member.

Glendale library hosting fundraiser
Glendale Area Public Library will hold its annual book, bake and rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Coalport Community Building.
Items in good condition can be donated Tuesday through Thursday at the library at 961 Forest St., Coalport.

Forest Hills plans orientation
The Forest Hills Middle School will conduct an orientation program for new students at 9 a.m Thursday in the middle school auditorium.
The program is designed to acquaint students with middle school rules, regulations, policies, programs, facilities and services.
All seventh-graders and all transfer students are invited.
Parents also are welcome.
