CHERRY TREE — State police in Ebensburg are looking for information regarding a stolen SUV that was found Monday in a pond outside Cherry Tree Borough.
The Ford Explorer, owned by Sarah Weakland of Patton, was stolen Sept. 21, troopers said.
A local Cherry Tree man walking his dog saw the vehicle’s roof sticking out of the water in the remote area and notified police.
According to state police, Weakland went into Warfield’s Market on Magee Avenue in Patton between 4 and 4:10 p.m. on the day her vehicle was stolen. Weakland told police she left the keys in the ignition.
Troopers were assisted by Indiana-based state police in the recovery effort on Monday. No one was injured.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information may call state police: 471-6500.
