Johnstown man sentenced in sex-abuse case

BY SANDRA K. REABUCK

EBENSBURG — A Johnstown man was sentenced to home confinement Friday in a child sex-abuse case and an unrelated drunken driving incident.

Anthony James Catalfamo, 30, whose address was listed as Luna Street, Johnstown, received jail terms totaling 26 months to six years in prison.

But Judge Gerard Long said that Catalfamo, who has been on house arrest for about 20 months, would serve the balance of his minimum sentence on continued home confinement with electronic monitoring.

Catalfamo was ordered to pay fines totaling $1,400, plus court costs and fees. The judge determined that he is not a sexually violent predator likely to re-offend.

The Johnstown police charged that Catalfamo kissed and touched a 9-year-old girl and offered her money to perform a sexual act in July 2006.

In addition, he pleaded guilty to drunken driving Oct. 13, 2001, on Central Avenue in Johnstown. The police said that he fled from the scene of the accident.
