CRESSON — A Sankertown man is charged with chaining his live-in girlfriend to a couch for more than seven hours.
State police said Mark Zearfaus, 40, was involved in a physical confrontation with the 28-year-old woman Friday morning. He left their Penn Avenue apartment for a half hour, “then returned with a 31-foot chain and two padlocks,” police said.
Zearfaus allegedly locked the chain around his girlfriend’s left ankle and chained her to the couch.
The victim was restrained until 5:30 p.m., when she yelled for help. Police said there were no phones in the apartment.
Zearfaus is charged with simple assault and false imprisonment.
