A Dale Borough man will face Cambria County Court action on charges he broke into a Stonycreek Township sawmill with an accomplice and tried to steal equipment.
Eric Scott Cassick, 28, of the 300 block of Arthur Street, waived his case on Tuesday before District Judge Max Pavlovich of Richland Township. He was released on recognizance bail following the court proceeding.
The hearing for the alleged accomplice, Brian Matthew Gaydos, 20, of the 1000 block of Bedford Street, Johnstown, has been continued until Jan. 27.
He is free on $50,000 bail.
Stonycreek Township police said the pair entered MTD Inc., located at 1238 Widman Street, late on Nov. 23 and tried to steal an air compressor, generator and a saw. They were confronted by the owner before they could leave with the items, police said.

• A Jennerstown man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Windber.
In a court document, Windber police charged Sean Michael O’Brian with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sex assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to a minor.
Police said O’Brian gave the girl alcohol at a Railroad Street home where the two had sex.
O’Brian, 20, of Pitt Street, will answer the charges at a later date.
• A Johnstown man faces a rash of charges stemming from an alcohol-related crash that injured another driver, city police said.
Charles Wills, 52, of Linden Avenue, was traveling east on Central Avenue when his
1997 Ford F-150 struck two vehicles before rolling onto its side, a court document shows.
A driver of one of the vehicles was injured, police said. The name of the driver and extent of the injuries was not available.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. Dec. 2.
Wills had a blood-alcohol content of 0.27 percent, police said.
Wills was charged Monday before District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury with accident involving death or personal injury, driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving and related charges.
• Police at Pitt-Johnstown have charged a man with vandalism at the campus Living/ Learning Center.
Campus police responded to a call there Friday when they found damage to five fire extinguishers, an exit sign and a thermostat cover. A hole was knocked in the wall.
Witnesses told police the damage was the result of a fight among several people.
Matthew Ray Simpson, 19, of Pittsburgh, was charged with institutional vandalism, underage drinking, tampering with fire apparatus, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
He was arraigned by on-call District Judge John Barron of Upper Yoder Township and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
• State police are continuing to investigate the theft of items from Laurel Valley High School that took place between Oct. 6 and Dec. 4.
The police said that three known white male suspects removed the items, which were not identified. Two of the suspects are 16 and the other, 17, police said.
• Police are looking for whoever entered the Nanty Glo home of Tom and Leigh Ann Swartz and stole a bicycle between 5:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
A blue-and-silver Mongoose, BMX edition, was taken from the home in the 1000 block of Second Street, state police said.
