PennDOT awards two bridge-replacement contracts


PennDOT announced Monday that bids have been accepted for the Route 2007 Chapman’s Run Bridge replacement project in Monroe Township, Bedford County.

The project consists of the replacement of the existing structure with a pre-cast reinforced concrete box culvert along with other miscellaneous construction.

This project is located about 1.5 miles southeast of Clearville over Chapman’s Run.

Wen-Brooke Contracting Inc., of Three Springs, is the contractor on the $432,698 project.

Work is anticipated to begin in the spring with a completion date of August 2009.

Bids also have been accepted for the Route 26, Yellow Creek Bridge replacement project in Hopewell Township, Bedford County.

C.H.&D.; Enterprises Inc., of New Stanton, is the winning contractor with a bid amount of $1,691,657.

The project consists of replacing the current structure along with drainage and guide rail improvements. A temporary structure will be built to maintain traffic during construction.

Work on this project is anticipated to begin in the spring with a completion date of December 2009.
