PORTAGE — Two people were charged in connection with an assault of a man outside a convenience store in Portage Borough, authorities said.
The alleged victim, Travis Stager, 19, was shopping in the store when he became involved in an argument with Jason Mark Douglas, 27, state police in Ebensburg said.
The two were separated and Stager left the store, troopers said.
Stager was outside with his girlfriend when the two men again began to argue.
Stager threw Douglas to the ground and was holding him there when he was allegedly kicked in the head by a third man, Robert Wainwright, 29, troopers said.
Douglas then allegedly slashed Stager three time with a utility knife in the face, neck and ear.
He grabbed Stager’s cell phone and fled, troopers said.
Douglas was arraigned by on-call District Judge Rick Varner of Salix on charges of burglary, aggravated assault, theft, simple assault, reckless endangerment and public drunkenness.
He was sent to the Cambria County jail on $50,000 bond.
Wainwright was charged with simple assault and harassment.
Stager was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where he was treated and later released, troopers said.
