In brief: Woman hurt in Indiana County crash

PENN RUN — A Northern Cambria woman was treated after she was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Indiana County early Thursday.

Heather M. Hudson, 19, was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center after the crash at 12:30 p.m. on Route 553 in Cherryhill Township.

She was treated and then released, a hospital supervisor said.

Hudson was the driver of a vehicle that went off the road and struck two trees and a ditch, state police said.

2-year-old recovering, state police say

LORETTO – A 2-year-old girl who wandered away from her mother and was found in a small creek Friday afternoon was doing fine Saturday, state police Trooper Mark Galli said.

The girl was first treated at Memorial Medical Center in Johns-town and then was taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

“She’s doing fine and they expect her to recover,” Galli said Saturday night.

He said the girl went missing before 3 p.m. Friday while she and her mother were visiting a friend’s farm on Holstein Drive in Munster Township. The girl was found at about 4 p.m. one-half mile away by a family member taking a walk through the woods.

Galli said the child apparently slipped and fell face up into the creek. The family member who found her pulled her from the water and performed CPR, the trooper said.

Somerset motorist injured in wreck

A Somerset motorist was flown by medical helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown after the truck he was driving crashed at 5:05 p.m. Thursday in Lincoln Township.

State police identified him as Brandon Johnston, 24. A hospital supervisor said he was treated and then released.

The truck was traveling east on Husband Road when it went off the roadway and struck an embankment, police said.

Weapons theft investigated

MARION CENTER – A Marion Center man has been charged with receiving stolen property in connection with an incident Thursday in which 10 weapons were taken from a residence along Allison Road in Green Township.

State police said that Lucas Kunkle, 29, was placed in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Police identified Floyd Michael Kunkle as owner of the rifles and shotguns.

Police said that seven of the weapons have been recovered, along with other stolen items.

Additional information was not immediately available.
