Residents are being invited to a free Green Energy Fair on Wednesday to learn about new technologies.
The fair is being held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pasquerilla Conference Center, 301 Napoleon St., Johnstown.
The fair will offer information on saving energy, jobs and how to preserve the environment.
Sponsors are state Sen. John Wozniak, D-Westmont, and state Reps. Frank Burns, D-East Taylor Township, and Gary Haluska, D-Patton.
“Central Pennsylvania was a leader in the energy revolution of the 19th century,” Wozniak said, “and we are in a position to lead the energy revolution of the 21st century.”
Fairgoers will be able to learn about Pennsylvania’s energy independence strategy. The strategy was outlined in a series of laws that will provide grants and loans to homeowners who upgrade appliances, insulation and heating systems.
“Pennsylvania’s future is in the development of alternative energy.
“Our region has the opportunity to be innovators in this field and capitalize on the economic growth within the industry,” Burns said. “I encourage residents to stop by to learn about our initiatives, find ways to conserve energy and reduce their utility bills.”
The lawmakers have invited companies, groups or agencies involved in green energy to set up displays at the fair to promote their products and
services.
