ALTOONA — City police are investigating an armed robbery in which a delivery man for a wholesale floral company reported that two men – one armed with a handgun – approached him early Saturday and demanded money.
The victim, employed by Schaefer’s Wholesale Florist, was making a delivery at about 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of 40th Street. After parking the company van and opening the door, the two robbers confronted him, the police said.
The victim told police that he turned over his wallet and the business registry with an undisclosed amount of money. The robbers fled on foot, the police said.
Driver in school vandalism sought
SIDMAN – State police at Ebensburg are investigating an incident in which a vehicle was used to damage a brick wall and three vending machines at the Forest Hills Middle School, 1427 Frankstown Road in Croyle Township.
The police said that the incident took place between 5:10 and 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information may call the state police.
Police investigate harrassing letters
ARMAGH – State police at Indiana are investigating an incident in which an 18-year-old man received harassing letters addressed to him in care of United High School.
The letters were received at noon April 7, the police said.
The police did not say whether the victim is a student at the school.
Brush fires keep firefighters busy
LORETTO – Local volunteer firefighters were dispatched at 6:34 p.m. Saturday to a brush fire off Beck Road in Allegheny Township, Cambria 911 reported.
Cambria 911 also dispatched firefighters around 7 p.m. to a brush fire off St. Joseph Road in West Carroll Township. No details were available Saturday night.
Jenner Twp. schedules flushing of water lines
JENNERSTOWN – The Municipal Water Authority of Jenner Township is advising customers that it will be flushing lines during the late evening Wednesday through Saturday.
Customers may experience periods of low pressure and cloudy water.
