Man charged with violating PFA order

BY PATRICK BUCHNOWSKI

CENTRAL CITY — A Central City man was jailed after he allegedly harassed a female police chief in Berks County.

David M. Oaks, 36, of Cook Road, is charged with violating a protection-from-abuse order by contacting Robeson Township Chief Penny M. Kelly via e-mail on myspace.com, according to a criminal complaint filed May 1 by Robeson Township police.

Oakes sent five e-mails to Kelly on April 25 and 26, the complaint said.

One e-mail read: “Hi babygirl. I miss you so much. Your looking good.”

Kelly, 33, had filed for a PFA in Berks County Court on April 9, stating “she no longer wanted any further communication” with Oakes.

The relationship between Oakes and Kelly could not immediately be determined. A Robeson Township police official could not be reached Tuesday.

Oakes was arraigned Monday night by District Judge Sandra Stevanus of Confluence, the on-call magistrate, and sent to the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

He is expected to be sent to Berks County today, said a district court official there.
