In brief: Court administrator in ‘serious condition’

Donald J. Scotilla, Cambria County’s longtime court administrator, remains hospitalized after being hit by a truck Thursday afternoon as he was leaving the courthouse.

The Ebensburg resident is in “serious condition,” a nursing supervisor at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown said Sunday.

Scotilla, who also is well known as a former principal and coach at Bishop Carroll High School, Ebensburg, was hit as he stepped into South Center Street in front of the courthouse.

He was blinded by a parked vehicle, county officials said.

Scotilla was taken by medical helicopter to Johnstown, but further details on his injuries have not been released at the request of his family.

Juveniles face charges in theft of ATV

HOLLIDAYSBURG – An all-terrain vehicle belonging to a Gallitzin man was stolen and later spotted in Blair County, where three juveniles will be charged with stealing and riding the ATV.

State police said that Robert C. Watt of Church Street, Gallitzin, was keeping his ATV in Bellwood Borough when it was stolen.

His family members saw the ATV and approached the suspects who were with it.

Charges are pending, state police said.

Police seeking owner of computer equipment

SOMERSET – A black and gray Lexmark copier and a gray Hewlett Packard printer were found Friday night at the Foul Tip parking lot in Quemahoning Township.

Anyone with information may call state police, 445-4104.

Birthright schedules Autumn Auction

Birthright of Johnstown’s annual Autumn Auction will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at St. Andrew’s Church in Ferndale. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Featured items include an AKC-registered Lhaso apso puppy, theme baskets, vases, Thomas Kincade works, Lennox items, a Jackie Kennedy necklace and a signed Steelers football.

Admission is free and all proceeds benefit Birthright of Johnstown. Food and baked goods also will be for sale.
