ROCKWOOD — A fire at a two-car garage on Bridge Street early Wednesday was caused by an electrical problem, said Rockwood Fire Chief Jim Miller.
Firefighters did a good job of knocking the fire down and confining it to the
corner of the garage, where it started, Miller said.
An older-model car inside the garage was destroyed.
The owners of the garage are planning to erect a mobile home on their property and were temporarily living in a camper. They were using an electric heater to stay warm and had it plugged into an outlet in the garage.
The extension cord is believed to have started the fire, Miller said.
Also responding to the 1:30 alarm were firefighters from Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and New Centerville & Rural Volunteer Fire Company.
