Police nab added suspects during recent drug sweeps

JOHNSTOWN — Police rounding up suspects were able to tally an additional arrest in each of two recent drug sweeps, thanks to the suspects’ actions.

Lisa Bowman, 47, of the 1300 block of Christoff Street, Nanty Glo, was arrested after trying to deliver methadone to a Cambria County Drug Task detective she thought was a friend of another woman already under arrest.

Lacey Warzel, 19, of Twin Rocks, was arrested for interfering with police trying to arrest another suspect at her home.

Police say Bowman came to their attention following the arrest of three women, including two sisters, accused of of distributing tens of thousands of dollars worth of prescription pills in small communities in much of the county. Shawna Delozier, 22, of Revloc; Kathleen Weimer, 20, of East Conemaugh; and Weimer’s sister, Kelly, 22, of East Taylor Township, were arrested Oct. 28.

While Kathleen Weimer was being taken into custody, her cell phone kept ringing, so a county detective answered it.

The caller told the detective she had “dunes” for Weimer. “Dunes” is a street term for methadone, police said.

The caller was Bowman, who agreed to meet the detective at Weimer’s home. He arrested her when she offered him 60 pills hidden in a cigarette box.

Bowman is charged with drug possession, delivery of methadone and using a cell phone for illegal purposes. She was arraigned before District Judge Rick Varner of Salix and released after posting $3,000, or 10 percent of $30,000 bond.

She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Jan. 11.

Warzel was arrested while county detectives were trying to arrest Kasey W. Yarnell, 33, of the 1300 block of Burn Street, Nanty Glo. Warzel is accused of selling Oxycodone to an undercover officer and a police informant outside his home.

When police tried to take Yarnell into custody, Warzel insisted he was not in her Twin Rocks home, police said. After repeated warnings, police entered her home and found Yarnell hiding in a bedroom.

Warzel is charged with hindering apprehension. Yarnell faces charges of drug possession and felony drug distribution.

Each was arraigned before Varner. Both remain in Cambria County Prison, with preliminary hearings scheduled Nov. 16.
