JOHNSTOWN — State police are searching for a man who escaped from the Johnstown Community Corrections Center.
Mark Daniel Alochney, 30, was granted a pass from the downtown facility.
He left at 6:06 a.m. Sunday and was to return at 8 p.m., but failed to do so.
Center Director Richard Smith referred telephone calls to the state police barracks in Ebensburg. Troopers there did not return a telephone call Tuesday.
A court document shows Alochney was serving a 31/2- to seven-year sentence for robbing a Sheetz convenience store in Windber in January 2007.
Alochney pulled a razor on a cashier and took $8.76 worth of chewing tobacco.
His minimum release date is July 2, 2010.
The Johnstown center, located at 301 Washington St., helps residents gradually re-enter society and is part of the state Department of Corrections’ prerelease program.
Anyone with information may contact the Cambria County 911 center at (800) 281-1680.
