JOHNSTOWN — A man who walked away from the Johnstown Community Corrections Center on Washington Street a week ago is back in custody.
Mark Daniel Alochney, 30, was granted a pass from the downtown facility Nov. 8 but failed to return by 8 p.m.
He turned himself in to state police Monday night.
Alochney was sent to Cambria County Prison after appearing before District Judge Michael Musulin of Johnstown.
Authorities said Alochney told them he did not return to the corrections facility because he had overslept at his girlfriend’s house.
A court document shows Alochney was serving a 31/2- to seven-year sentence for robbing a Sheetz convenience store in Windber in January 2007.
Alochney pulled a razor on a cashier and took chewing tobacco valued at $8.76.
Before his escape, Alochney’s earliest release date was July 2, 2010.
