Police say 3 beat homeless man in tent

GREENSBURG — State police have been searching for three men who allegedly beat a homeless man with poles and clubs as he slept in a tent in a wooded area.

Police in Greensburg say 51-year-old Paul Lance suffered severe injuries to his head, face and torso and had to be flown to an undisclosed hospital after Tuesday night’s attack. Police have not released the man’s condition.

Police say the men approached Lance who was camping behind a park in Hempfield Township. Search dogs indicated the suspects ran away along some railroad tracks, but police have been unable to find them.
