Two local young women took honors Saturday in the Pennsylvania Outstanding Young Women contest.
Ashley Kaufman, representing Somerset County, was named first runner-up. She is the daughter of Ronald and Shari Kaufman of Somerset.
Ashlea Krupa, representing Cambria County, won the Keystone Award and the scholastic achievement award. She is the daughter of Eugene and Christine Krupa of Richland Township.
The winner for 2010 is Diamante White, 17, a Reading High School senior representing Berks County.
The scholarship program recognizes and rewards high school seniors who have excelled scholastically and in their communities.
Five categories are judged in the competition: Scholarship and achievement, interview, performing arts, aerobics and fitness, and presence and presentation.
