In brief: Indiana County man killed in crash

MARION CENTER — A Marion Center man died Sunday after his 1995 Ford Mustang missed a curve at high speed, spun, left Route 403 and was cut in half when it hit a tree broadside.

State police said Wilmer B. Sinclair, 30, of Main Street, died in the 3:20 a.m. wreck on Route 403 near Leroy Road in Rayne Township.

Police said Sinclair was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected into the woods.

Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker said Sinclair suffered multiple blunt-force trauma.

He said he suspects that Sinclair had been drinking. Toxicology tests are pending and no autopsy is planned.

Driver accused of damaging property

FRIEDENS – A Stoystown man escaped injury but caused lots of property damage Sunday when state police said he drove his 1994 Cutlass around a family’s yard.

Police said Grant Streng drove off Coleman Station Road in Stonycreek Township about 1 a.m. The car knocked over two mailboxes and struck a parked truck and car, which was pushed into a corner of the home.

The Cutlass struck the front porch posts as Streng then tried to get back onto the road, but the car twice couldn’t make it up the hill and slid backwards.

Police said Streng then got out of the car and the homeowners took him into their kitchen until troopers arrived.

Troopers said Streng was visibly intoxicated.

The damage included: The Cutlass a complete loss, with a missing rear wheel assembly; homeowners’ truck with front-end damage, and their car, with severe rear-end damage.
