VINTONDALE — The home of an 81-year-old woman was ransacked and the burglars stole an undetermined amount of money and a wide variety of merchandise, state police said Sunday.
Police said burglars entered into a home on Jacobs Street between noon Wednesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
They forced an aluminum screen door to gain entry to the porch sitting room, then used a blunt object to smash out a wooden door panel and gain entry to the home.
Along with money, stolen goods included foreign coins, a World War II Hungarian pistol, ruby and emerald rings, three gold necklaces with pearls, six multiple-stoned bracelets and a Bethlehem tapestry.
