JOHNSTOWN — Former Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Mark Singel, a resident of Johnstown, said today that he will formally announce on Friday his plans concerning the 12th Congressional District seat vacated by the Feb. 8 death of John P. Murtha.
Singel, a Democrat, will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn in downtown Johnstown.
He served as lieutenant governor from 1987 to 1995 under Gov. Robert Casey, and filled in as acting governor when Casey was recovering from heart surgery.
Singel also served six years in the state Senate.
He is president of Winter Group, a lobbying firm.
