“John Dunn’s Last Run,” a film by Ryan Dixon, took third place at the fourth annual Johnstown Film & Wine Festival held July 8-11 at the Johnstown Flood Museum.
The film also received the Viewers’ Choice Award.
Dixon, a native of Vintondale, lives in Los Angeles, where he works in the film industry.
His 20-minute film focuses on a former high school teacher with a mysterious past who takes a late-night jog – only to have specters of his past appear before him. Much of the film was shot in the area, including along the Ghost Town Trail and inside United High School.
P.J. Gaynard of Glendale, Calif., a native of southwestern Pennsylvania, won first place for his film “Rooftop.”
Kev Stock of Ebensburg won second place for “Wishing Bone.”
The top entries were screened at the Frank & Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center.
Any original short film of 30 minutes or less was eligible for the competition, which included cash awards.
The festival’s call for entries for 2010 will be issued in late fall. A complete screening schedule, information on the filmmakers and more, can be found at www.johnstownfilmfest.org.
