Organizers estimate that more than 600 people attended Sunday's Bridal Showcase at the Pasquerilla Conference Center in downtown Johnstown.
“It was our best show ever,” said Mary Ann Rizzo, director of advertising sales for The Tribune-Democrat and Johnstown Magazine, which sponsored the event.
Now in its eighth year, the event continues to grow every year, Rizzo said.
“At some point, we may have to look at finding a bigger venue,” she said.
Nearly 50 vendors displayed wares and services for everything from bridal gowns and tuxedos to hair and makeup, lighting and flowers.
“The chocolate fountain was a big hit,” Rizzo said.
A fashion show highlighted the extravaganza.
Nicole Parrish, manager of Alfred Angelo Bridal, located in College Park Plaza, has been involved with the show from its inception.
“It was fabulous,” she said of this year’s event.
“It is a great way to reach out to local brides and give them the opportunity to see what is available locally. That’s important to our local economy.
“We want these brides to look to the local businesses. They do not need to go out of state.”
Rizzo said she and her team are already making plans for next year’s bridal show and are looking forward to Women’s Showcase, which will be held March 16 at the conference center.
The show will feature services and products that are of interest to women and includes the very popular Bagtastic sale that pairs women with slightly used, designer bags. Proceeds from the sale benefit Newspapers in Education, putting the daily newspaper in classrooms in the region and The Learning Lamp.
