NANTY GLO – Mike Lysic tossed a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Township.
Lysic allowed just one baserunner, Brandon Garver, who reached on an error.
Township’s Jordan Shroyer went
3-for-3 with four RBIs. Dan Zambanini had two hits and drove in a pair. Kyle Zambanini and B.J. Heinrich each had two hits.
Berlin 6, Meyersdale 4
BERLIN – Kyle Landis struck out five and walked one in a four-hitter in a victory over visiting Meyersdale.
Landis drove in two runs on sacrifice flies. Kirk Davis went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Jacob Baer had a hit and two runs.
Meyersdale’s Ben Lohr went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one run batted in. Jared Schrock had a hit, a run and one run batted in.
Portage 12
Conemaugh Valley 0
Mike Sinosky threw a five-inning no-hitter as Portage beat Conemaugh Valley. Taylor Swires, Scott Nolan and Zach Petrunak each scored two runs for Portage.
Central Cambria 12
Forest Hills 1
EBENSBURG – Mario DeYulis had two hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in five runs as Central Cambria beat Forest Hills.
The Red Devils’ Mitchell Brown had two hits and scored four runs, and Luke Trotz had two hits and three RBIs.
Keith Wirfell had two hits and scored three runs.
Jared Shope had two hits for Forest Hills.
Bishop Carroll 17
Penn Cambria 0
CRESSON – Bishop Carroll collected 15 hits in a win at Penn Cambria.
Josh Dumm went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBIs for the Huskies. Winning pitcher Nick Lassak added three hits, while Dylan Link was 2-for-4 with a home run.
Shane Hartline was 3-for-3 for Penn Cambria.
Ferndale 8, Windber 7
WINDBER – Ferndale benefited from six Windber errors in a victory.
Bobby Hess scored twice and had an RBI for the Yellow Jackets, while Mike Dorchak also drove in a run.
Windber’s Austin Seese had a three-run home run.
Westmont 8, Bedford 6
Ben Legath went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and A.J. Rievel ripped a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to provide the game-winning runs.
Bobby Varner went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Bedford’s Tanner Wilson went 2-for-4 and had a three-run homer in the fifth.
North Star 8, Shade 3
CAIRNBROOK – Josh Purchase tossed a complete game, scattering six hits while striking out five, to lead the Cougars.
Cory Bloom had two hits for North Star, while Alex Mayak hit a two-run homer. Max Strasiser doubled.
Brett Edwards tripled and Ryan Medva doubled to lead the Panthers.
Laurel Valley 12, United 7
ARMAGH – Laurel Valley’s Anthony Tutino had three hits and drove in five runs in a win at United.
Luke Crumrine had three hits for the Rams.
United’s Cody Trabert drove in two runs.
Bishop McCort 17 Johnstown 2
Sean Lenhart allowed two hits in four innings and struck out 10 in a victory over Johnstown at Roxbury Park. He went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored.
Matt Kastelic went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Jesse Cooper had two hits, including a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored. Matt McMillen had two hits, with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Christian Leech went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Joe Hrbal doubled and scored twice. Jim Stenger hit a home run.
Johnstown’s Tyler Boyd and John King each had run-producing singles.
Richland 6, Somerset 1
Austin Urban had two hits, including a homer and two RBIs, and Ryan Sylvia and Zach Solarczyk each had two hits as Richland defeated visiting Somerset.
Rams pitcher Urban tossed a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out 10. Drew Hemminger and Cameron Darr each doubled for Somerset.
High School Softball
Blacklick Valley 12, Conemaugh Township 7
NANTY GLO – Alison Verba went
4-for-4, hitting for the cycle with a single, double, triple, home run and seven RBIs as Blacklick Valley improved to
14-0.
Megan Thomas went 4-for-4 with a triple, and Olivia McClain went 2-for-4 with a double.
Conemaugh Township’s Courtney Blank went 3-for-4. Audrey Zaman went 3-for-4.
Cambria Heights 7
Bishop Guilfoyle 1
PATTON – Danielle Bodek hit a solo homer and Alyssa Anna smacked a two-run homer and Olivia Woodley had two triples as Cambria Heights beat Bishop Guilfoyle.
Abby Stanek pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Central Cambria 21
Forest Hills 10
SIDMAN – Central Cambria had six home runs in the game and scored
18 runs in the top of the sixth in a comeback win at Forest Hills in a meeting of LHAC front-runners.
Central Cambria’s Kiersten Lorditch had five hits, including two homers and two doubles. Breanne James doubled and had three singles. Lindsay Beyer had two home runs.
Ali Vogatsky and Aimee Espe also hit homers for the Red Devils.
Forest Hills’ Gab Mickus had two doubles among her four hits. Kayleigh Wolfhope had a double and two singles.
Rose Wess had three singles.
Richland 7, Somerset 0
SOMERSET – Nicki Mihalik struck out 10 and walked one as Richland blanked Somerset.
Mihalik had two hits, including a double. Lauren Keffer and Maura Koshute each had two hits, and Clarissa Snopko belted two doubles.
Somerset’s Nicole Landis went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Ashley Humbert had two singles.
Northern Cambria 14, Purchase Line 2
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Becky Britton had three hits, and Jenna Bobik had two hits as Northern Cambria beat visiting Purchase Line.
Giana Butterworth had two hits for the Colts.
Ashley Baker had eight strikeouts and one walk.
Laurel Valley 16, United 3
ARMAGH – Laurel Valley scored
10 runs in the top of the fifth to beat host United.
Chelsey Hropovich doubled and Katie Shomo doubled twice for Laurel Valley.
Erin Painter had a double for United.
Windber 11, Ferndale 1
Windber pounded out 13 hits in a six-inning victory.
Ongie Null went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, while Alyssa Ott was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs.
Brooke Schreyer was 2-for-3 with two runs, Sarah Berkey had a double and three RBIs, and Kayla Kormanik was 2-for-2.
Brianna Shawley had two hits for Ferndale.

Bishop Carroll 0
EBENSBURG – Bishop Carroll’s Gabby Gueguen tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts, but the Huskies lost the game.
In the top of the fourth, Penn Cambria’s Brittany Vinglish had an RBI groundout to drive in the game’s only run.
Penn Cambria’s Kate Reese allowed just three hits while striking out 16.
Shade 6, North Star 0
CAIRNBROOK – Casey Roberts and Kelli Shaw each had two hits as Shade beat visiting North Star.
Erin Spinelli tripled for the Panthers.
Shaw struck out six and walked none in the two-hit shutout.
North Star’s Chelsea Danel had both of her team’s hits.
Conemaugh Valley 7 Portage 6
Sammi Britton hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, and Holly Glass hit a walkoff double in the bottom of the eighth to win it for Conemaugh Valley.
Britton finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Emily Reynolds, Bobbie Sue Kist, Jamie Cekada and Glass all had two hits for Blue Jays, who turned two double plays.
Glass struck out eight batters to pick up the win.
Emily McCabe led Portage with a
3-for-3 effort with a double and two runs. Tanea Lehman added two hits.
College Softball
Mount sweeps St. Vincent
LATROBE – Mount Aloysius swept host St. Vincent in a doubleheader Thursday.
In the first game, Jenna Isenberg went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs and three runs in a 10-5 victory.
Andie O’Neal was 2-for-4 with two runs, while Rene Schmidt and Kristie Strayer both had RBI doubles. Megan Brown was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, O’Neal had three hits in an 8-5 win.
Whitney Shearer and Isenberg had back-to-back home runs, and Isenberg finished with four RBIs. Andrea Lingle had a solo homer, and Ashley Duke picked up the win.
College Baseball
Kutztown 8, IUP 3
IUP managed only four hits off Kutztown starter Nate Reed and fell into the loser’s bracket of the PSAC Tournament with a loss to the Golden Bears Thursday night at Point Stadium in Johnstown.
The Crimson Hawks (30-23) will look to stave off elimination when they take on Mercyhurst today at 12:30 p.m.
Should IUP win that game, it will face Kutztown (36-11) this evening at 6:30.
Cal. 8, West Chester 3
California scored all eight of its runs in the first inning, pounding out seven of its 10 hits in that inning and taking advantage of a pair of errors and balks by West Chester starter Fred Breidenbach.

East Stroudsburg 2
A three-run homer by Mercyhurst’s Adam Gray in the third inning broke open a 1-0 game. The Lakers also had a decent pitching performance from Ben Rawding and a solid relief appearance from Joe Cochran in eliminating the Warriors.
Slippery Rock 18
Mansfield 9
Slippery Rock sophomore right fielder Matt Kosik and sophomore left fielder Carter Haponski each had three hits to pace a 17-hit Rock offensive attack.
Track
McQuillen earns Big Ten honor
Coming off an outstanding performance at the Penn Relays last weekend, Penn State junior Karlee McQuillen has been named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week.
The Westmont Hilltop graduate’s gold-medal performance was one of only 12 individual championships earned in the history of the Penn State track and field program.
McQuillen has achieved the difficult task of becoming a high school and college champion at the relays.
