High School Boys

Bishop McCort 61 Richland 57

Patrick O’Reilly’s 17 points led Bishop McCort to victory at Richland.

Bill Dill and Jerquel Wilson had 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Crimson Crushers. Jordan Rozich’s 25 points led Richland, which got

22 points from Dereck

Malzi.



Bishop Carroll 61 Cambria Heights 55

EBENSBURG – Dylan Link led three Huskies in double figures with 24 points.

Ryan Woo added 13 points and Curt Panick finished with 11.

Tony Milanesi’s 14 points led the Highlanders, with Brad Caldwell adding 12 and Ian Vescovi 10.



Shanksville 62 Rockwood 50

ROCKWOOD – Colin Swank had 14 points, Dylan Everett

13 and Steve Keller 10 in leading Shanksville.

Sam Sanner and Nick

Foreman scored 19 and 10 points, respectively, for the Rockets.



Ligonier Valley 55 Laurel Valley 44

LIGONIER – Brandon Campbell had 27 points and

11 rebounds to lead Ligonier Valley. Jackson Corcoran gave the Mounties 13 points and

10 rebounds.

Joey Hepner’s 18 points led Laurel Valley, which got

12 each from Keegan Hall and Justin Shingler.



Northern Cambria 77 Purchase Line 43

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Joe Yuhas scored 18 points to lead Northern Cambria on Senior Night, getting the final one with about 21/2 minutes to play.

That point gave him

1,000 for his career. He also had 12 rebounds.

Josh Stiles had 14 points, seven steals and seven assists for the Colts, while teammate Brennan Dumm scored 12.

Cody Stolitza’s 15 points led the Red Dragons.



Con. Valley 57 Portage 51

Dalton Uncapher scored

20 points and Jason Preuss added 12 for the Blue Jays.

Zak Petrunak led Portage with 20 points.



Meyersdale 71

J. Christian 51

HOLLSOPPLE – Justin Donaldson had 21 points and Matt Moser scored 20 to lead Meyersdale.

Ian Edwards added 12 points for the Red Raiders.

Jake Tuck and Kevin Shook had 17 and 16 points, respectively, to top the Blue Jays.



Ferndale 64 Turkeyfoot 59

CONFLUENCE – Ryan Gaunt scored a game-high

29 points and Trevor Mattis added 18 for Ferndale.

Scott Hinzy led Turkeyfoot with 18 points, while teammates Dylan Schartiser and Tyler Lytle added 16 and 12, respectively.

Katie Gehlmann’s 21 points led Richland as the Rams notched a win at home.

Kaija Holtzman added

18 points while Maura Koshute had seven assists and two steals. Teammate Casey Baumgardner handed out six assists.

Kristie Krug had 22 points to lead the Huskies while Lindsy Sammarco scored 11.



Central Cambria 58 Penn Cambria 38

EBENSBURG – Emily Wright had 17 points while Taylor Swatsworth contributed 14 and Breanne James added 10 to lead Central Cambria.

Brianna Kearney’s 19 points topped the Panthers.

CAIRNBROOK – Marlee Zubek’s 10 points led Shade.

She also had 11 rebounds.

Casey Roberts led the Panthers with 19 rebounds and five assists. Katie Reckner

led the Indians with 16 rebounds.

Julie Byer and Lyndy Baer fronted the visitors with 15 and 10 points, respectively.



North Star 49 Conemaugh Valley 41

BOSWELL – Breann Putman scored 19 points and Chelsea Danel had 17 to lead North Star.

Stefanie Miller grabbed nine rebounds for the Cougars.

Beth Kendera’s 15 points led Conemaugh Valley.

SALISBURY – Kiersten Butler’s 15 points led Northern over Salisbury.

Amber Miller scored 13 and Adria Graham had 11 for the visitors.

Tynesha Smith scored

25 points and Amber Mangus added 21 in Johnstown’s overtime win.

Missy Ravida added 13 points for the Trojans.

Crystal Dibert led Bedford with 15 points, while teammates Genna Arnold and Maggie DiVito had 11 and 10, respectively.

Brittany Eisenhuth had

23 points and Brittany Baumbaugh added 14 in Ferndale’s win.

Laurel Valley 44

NEW FLORENCE – A dozen points each from Wendi Walsh and Laura Brilhart led the way as United defeated Laurel Valley.

Kyla Perry had 11 for the Lions.

Julie Snyder’s 15 points and Brittan Hansen’s 13 topped Laurel Valley.



Bishop McCort 54 Somerset 29

SOMERSET – Bishop McCort won its 11th consecutive game and clinched the LHAC Section 2 title.

The Crushers will face Section 1 winner Bishop Guilfoyle in tonight’s conference title game.



Baseball

Schedule set for baseball camps

Dee Dee Osborne’s

11th annual Elite Instructional baseball camps will be held in mid-June at the Roxbury Park complex featuring nationally recognized college coaches. Osborne is head coach at Greater Johnstown High School and an assistant scout for the Cleveland Indians.

The camp for high school players will be held June 21-24 while the college showcase camp, with college coaches and major league scouts in attendance, will be held June 24. A Little League camp for players 8-12 years of age will be held June 21-23. Camp hours are 9 a.m.-noon.

High school instructors are Tom Walter, head coach at Wake Forest; Bobby Mayer, a Cleveland Indians scout for 21 years; Shawn Stiffler, assistant coach at Virginia Commonwealth; Rich Pasquale, head coach at Youngstown State; Mark Marizzaldi, head coach at Seton Hill; Bruce Petty, head coach at the University of New Orleans, and his assistant, Scott Biesecker; and Joel Dombkowski, former head coach at Pitt.

The Little League coaches are Ricky Roberts, assistant coach at UPJ and co-owner of the ERA Baseball School; Chance Osborne, assistant coach at Greater Johnstown; Josh Day, Sam Zambanini, Quenteen Robinson and St. Francis head coach Jimmy Mayer.

Richland senior

wins award

Quinn Carpenter, a senior at Richland High School, has been awarded the Western Conference Student Athlete Award.

The Western Pa. Conference is the oldest conference in the state, and is comprised of schools in districts 5, 6 and 9. Carpenter was the senior football player with the highest GPA.

He is the son of Keith and Tracy Carpenter.



WRESTLING

Pitt earns first

EWL title

PITTSBURGH – In in front of over 1,900 fans on Senior Night, the Pitt wrestling team (17-1-1, 6-0 EWL) claimed their first-ever Eastern Wrestling League title Friday night in a 21-13 victory over rival Edinboro (8-6, 4-1 EWL) at Fitzgerald Field House.
